Interesting but doesn't provide any clear path, if that is what people might be looking for in such a list! :) I would take from this, if I were looking to take something from it! that each person needs to attend college (or not) according to his or her wants and needs.

LaChanze didn't graduate from UArts as a dance major (before MT was instated) because she ended up getting cast in ONCE ON THIS ISLAND. Just thought I'd add that it was a career move. :)

Wow, 2 from Kalamazoo, Michigan. I feel proud ;).

Speaking of Kalamazoo (WMU), I just visited my friend who is a BA Theatre Performance there. I was compleatly impressed by the facilities and resources there. There were about 6 theatres there varying in size and desgin, including one gigantic 5 story black box theatre that could probably be shaped into anything for any show, absolutly breathtaking. The campus was also nice and seemed like there was a lot to do. In my opinion WMU is probably not talked about enough here and is definatly a program to look into. Along with the noted grads above, Marian Mazzie is also a graduate, who my friend informed me when I was there that she was awarded with an honorary doctoate from the University.

Fascinating!!!

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, for giving this Indiana MT BA hope.

Only about 3 from BFA progams. Now isnt that intereting people?

Expecially that they pretty much all dropped out of them?

Maybe a BFA isn't the be all and end all of life. Maybe a BA might
be a better idea! Gives some 2007 auditionees something to think about.

Somebody posted the nominees for 2005 this time last year. Looks like more of them actually went to school for Drama or MT ... in the U.S.

This marks the third consecutive year Oklahoma City University has had one of their graduates nominated:

Kristin Chenoweth (Wicked) 2003

Interesting to note that OCU voice teacher Florence Birdwell has had students receive five Tony nominations; two for Krisitn, two for Kelli and one back in 1984 for Lara Teeter for "On Your Toes".

Mrs Birdwell is hoping to teach at this summer's OCU high school music theater program.

<a href="http://www.okcu.edu/music/archieve/archive_detail.asp?id=142%5B/url%5D">http://www.okcu.edu/music/archieve/archive_detail.asp?id=142</a></p>

This is interesting information - even fun. I would caution not to get too excited over the presence or lack of BFA degrees. Remember, performers in their 40's had very few BFA MT programs to choose from in their early twenties. In the way-back it was most common to go a school of music, drama, or no college at all when getting into MT - we've grown since then.
