where to ED ? ??

Hello. I believe I have finalized my college list, haha, "finalized". But these three have remained on my list and I love all three of them. They are similar academically / culturally.

Tufts
WashU
Rice

I cannot decide which one I want to ED to. I can see myself at any of them. Since I likely will not be choosing between any two of them (they are high reaches), I want to ED to one of them so I have a better shot at getting into at least one of them. Theyr'e all "First Choices".

Without ED, I think I have a pretty low chance of getting into any of them (32 ACT, 33 superscore, 3.68 UW GPA, fairly challenging courses, good EC . GPA is the bottleneck here.

When I did the Net Price Calculators they are all affordable so that isn't a concern here. However, Rice does have a no loan policy for families under 80k income so that would be cool.

Do you have a preference in terms of location? Texas, St. Louis, and Boston area are quite different, imo. They are all great schools. Is one stronger in your major/interest?

I don’t really care too much about location. I live in St. Louis so WashU is right next door. Boston and Houston seem equally interesting to me!

I want to do Physics or Chemical Engineering as of now. If I do Physics I would plan to do grad school. They are all strong in the sciences.

We should be able to visit them soon.

The visit is likely to indicate that you’re more strongly interested in one of these.

I think you have a shot ED at Washu. I think Rice is a bit of a reach for you.

WashU doesn’t have its own supplemental essay, so it may be tougher to make your own individual case for why you think you would be a fit there beyond your stats and ECs.

All three universities you mentioned do consider demonstrated interest to one extent or another, so those visits are going to be important to show you’re interested.

Tufts has a 36% ED admission rate and Rice has a 25% ED admission rate; I think Tufts is more within reach for you personally, but I’d visit all 3 and then decide yourself.

Yeah, Rice is probably pushing it a bit.

I think ill play it safe, WashU is right here at home, I’ve visited and done an interview and will likely be going back to talk to professor / sit in on class. According to Naviance WashU accepts a percentage of students higher than their normal percentage rate.
