I LOVE bball but every single time I tried to go into Wooden last year to play, the courts were always full. I even went once at 6am and the courts were already full with some hardcore players. I'm just looking to shoot around, and not actually play. Anyone know some good places on campus for ppl like me who's just looking to shoot or play horse and knockout or something?

Other than Wooden, there's the Sunset Rec Bball courts, SAC Bball courts

Sunset courts were supposedly suppose to be destroyed! Are they still there?

if you want to shoot around, you'll probably have to go during off hours. I hope sunset still is there, my friends were there at summer school and they didn't say anything yet. SAC is open 12-2PM during some of the weekdays, you can check the schedule online through UCLA recreation. Just google it, and look for the open gym sessions.

Most of the time, you can shoot around in sunset a little bit before like 6 PM. Even when it gets busy, there are some times when there are 1-2 half courts empty.

In any case, you should want to play with others! I get bored out of my mind playing horse, knockout, or just practice shooting around!

how good are the players there? I may consider playing, but I suck horribly

Sunset ranges from OK to pretty good. You get the occasional poor players here and there though.

But Sunset pales in comparison to Wooden. If you think you suck, play at Sunset.

haha, I never played basketball in high school...so I played ball at sunset. Some of the guys I play with do venture to wooden, and like it better at sunset since you don't have to wait as long for courts. But i mean, wooden is nice.. real nice. I played their about once during the beginning of the year last fall quarter.

You get the occasional poor players here and there though.

that would be me

hey altema, wut racquet do you use and do you use a dampner with it?

Yeah, I really hate wooden just because the wait is horrible. I hate going out to play bball only to wait like 30-40 minutes to even start playing bball.

HOH- Wilson Hyper Hammer 6.3 w/ dampener. Nothing too crazy. I see the price fell a bunch. Makes sense since I bought this thing like 6 years ago D:.

wuts the tension?

haha I use a hammer 6.6 w/ a gamma dampener. (one of those white things with a red-eye).

My dampener is just a W :(.

Tension would be uhhhh, I really don't remember. 70s?

hahah me neither, i believe mine was around 59 or so.

cant be like that, dude you sure?

mine is like 65-75 and its pretty loose, it gets messed after every hit and i got to readjust it

im sure urs got to be around at least 75ish

prince dampner for a prince airstick, :)

No, just kidding yeah it's 59. the range for my racket is 55-65 lbs. It has a different design for the strings (rollers instead of.. the normal stuff)

You are all pros :(

im a pro...

....only at smashing my racquet
