This is the address i put on the envelopes I gave to teachers/counceler
Undergraduate Admissions Office
Cornell University
P.O. Box 516
Ithaca, NY 14850

but on another place on the website they say the address is:
Cornell University,
410 Thurston Avenue,
Ithaca, NY 14850-2488

which one is correct if not both?

It is a bit confusing but look here:

http://admissions.cornell.edu/apply/firstyear/index.cfm

It says there:

All fee waivers and additional materials (financial aid application, school records, recommendations, etc.) should be sent to the Application Processing Center

The Application Processing Center Address is:

Cornell Undergraduate Admissions
Application Processing Center
349 Pine Tree Road
Ithaca, NY 14850-2899

Its spelled out most clearly here:

grr..i thought the recommendations were considered part of the common app. because they are from the online common app. pdf downloads.
do you think my letters will be fowarded to the right place if I just used the "P.O. box 516" address?

yes schools even forward applications to the wrong university to each other.

I got cornell's packet of information and it says to just send both common app and supp app to the Admissions Application Processing Center and says nothing about the common app to the P.O. Box location. H/w, it is still very confusing since, as wharf rat advises, the cornell website says something different. Hopefully, sparticus, your right? so if i follow the instructions on the packet and there is some mistake, the college will forward it to the right place? (just making sure)
