Where would I get accepted?

I am a community college transfer and have a 2.94 GPA (UC) and a 2.95 GPA (non-uc) as of this semester. I had a tag agreement, but as you can see I have not fulfilled the requirements as my GPA is off by (.05-.06). I am a Biochemistry major (not impacted). My question is where will I get accepted out of all the schools I have applied to?

Did a year of O Chem, Biology, and Calculus

Worked part-time for most of the time during college

Volunteered 100+ hours at a hospital (still do at 4 hrs/per week)

Received a scholarship in high school (for most improved GPA)

had a very good personal statement (not that they even read it anyways)

My GPA in my CC has a upward trend especially this semester (Fall 2010)

Will have IGETC completed by next semester

I have applied to UCSD, UCI, UCD, UCR, UCSC, and UCSB
I also applied to SDSU, CSULB, POLY SLO, POLY POMONA

Please tell me all the schools you think I could get in from the ones I applied thank you

That will be your GPA after this fall semester?

This up there ^

I will be honest with you. UCSD, UCI, UCD, Cal Poly SLO = essentially no chance.
UCSB, UCSC, SDSU, CSULB = low chance of acceptance.
Cal Poly Pomona = 50/50 chance.
UCR = better than average chance of acceptance.

dashtiani, I got a question for you. If all come to worst, will you consider staying in CC for four years to get a better shot at a UC’s?

If that’s your GPA going into the Spring semester, the only schools you’ll most likely get into are UCR and UCSC.

If biochemistry is not impacted at the CSU’s, you have a 50/50 chance of getting into SDSu, CSULB, and maybe even Pomona. This chance might even be too generous.

With a GPA that weak you won’t get into SLO, UCI, UCSD, UCSB, or UCD (they have a strict >3.0 GPA acceptance - unless you’re a special admission applicant).

I got into SDSU and Cal Poly Pomona for Spring 2011 with a 3.05, you should have a good shot at all the CSUs except SLO

Hello, I would like to thank you all for your honesty and yes this is my gpa after fall semester. I messed up pretty bad in the beginning of college, but I worked really hard at the end to bring it up. I got 3 A’s and a C this fall semester (18 units) . Anyways once again I appreciate your opinions ty.

And @bjt: no I will not be willing to do another year at CC. I know if I do so I could increase my GPA but I need to move ahead and just obtain my undergrad. I prefer a UC because they have more prestige than any cal state. I plan to work hard when I transfer and increase my gpa to a 3.4 at least.

What pains me was the 3% off from getting a B instead of a C, which would have made my gpa above a 3

thank you dashtiani,

I’m on the same boat as you are and I’m just wondering what would everyone would have done. Let just hope for the best for both of us. Good luck :)

The thing is I have been diagnosed with ADD at Summer 2010 and have been taking medicine for it. With this medicine I obained a 3.45 gpa at Fall 2010 and a 3.2 Summer 2010, these gpa’s being my highest (sadly). Would this be a good reason to say why my GPA was lacking or a bad reason.

I wish you luck too bjt,

We might be in a slight dilemma, but I remind myself this is only undergrad and we have an opportunity to still recover our gpa’s once we transfer.

Hey, I was in your shoes. Got into college at 18 & royally messed up. Re-entered at 22, worked hard, maintained a 3.65 - but still had that tainted background so it brought my overall GPA to a 2.88. I got accepted to SDSU for spring semester & am starting my classes on Wednesday. Keep trying. Work hard. Stay in CC another year if need be & raise your GPA. Check into academic forgiveness.

good news bro. UC davis tag cut off gpa is 2.9. Check ur tag email for davis.
