Here’s some anecdotal info from my S, who applied to colleges last year. He did not take Physics at all (took AP Bio and a Genetic Engineering class instead). He also did not take Calculus! He did take 3 years of language, and many other APs (AP Econ Micro and Macro, 2 AP English, APUSH, AP Art History, and AP Studio Art-2-D Design). He submitted an Art Portfolio. He only applied to a couple of Arch/Art programs but was accepted to CMU and WashU BArch, so it is possible to do. In fact, he was awarded a merit award at WashU so I suspect these are all just guidelines and if they see rigor in your school, your schedule, and you do very well in your classes, and SATs, you will not be disqualified.

Best of luck.
