If a child has one of the college board AP “awards” - AP Scholar and wants to report that on their college applications, does that mean they should report the AP test scores? Reporting of the AP scores is optional. What if they have 3,3,4,3 on their AP exams. the schools may take the 3 for credit, but I am just not sure if the 3’s look good? Any opinion?
It’s really up to the applicant.
That said, here’s my opinion:
The AP Awards are not really something that adds value to the application (again, IMO). It’s akin to listing having made honor roll. If the school accepts 3 for credit, I’d list the 3’s. If they don;t, I wouldn’t. Regardless, it won;t be a make-or-break whichever way s/he decides.
@skieurope thank you! would you have the child put the AP exams they EXPECT to take end of senior year - or just leave all of that optional AP exam stuff off it you decide not to report???
Again, up to the kid, unless the school requires the AP exam has to be taken. If AP tests taken matter very little in the admissions decision, which is the case for almost all colleges, then anticipated AP exams will matter even less. Few people care what one plans to do; it what they have done/are doing that matters. As oft-quoted from Jerry Maguire: “Show me the money.”
