I'm an incoming freshman and I'm curious what APs other future-gauchos are taking. Last year I got a 3 on the Calc AB exam, this year I'm hoping for 3s on Calc BC and Psych (I'm happy UCSB accepts 3s).

What are you taking and how are you preparing?

i took calc AB (5) and chem (4) my senior year. these were the only AP courses i took in high school :D. for calc i only did the practice problems that my teacher gave me. for chem i started reading the textbook about 2 months before the exam (i didn’t study or do homework during the whole year and the teacher didn’t really teach he only gave us practice exercises which i never did anyway LoL). found out later that it satisfied a GE requirement at UC and got me 8 units (only got 4 units for AP calc) =D

good luck =D. it’s really nice to find out that you r exempt from taking classes that you need to take just to satisfy the annoying general ed requirements lol.

I have taken AP World History, AP Biology, AP English Language, and AP U.S History. I am now taking AP Government, AP Macroeconomics, AP Calculus AB, and AP Studio Art. To be honest, I haven’t been studying as much as I should be and I have only been to a couple of review sessions that my teachers have. I just cant wait until testing is over. haha.

i dropped AP lit and US his at the beginning of my junior year when i realized i couldn’t handle them. i took SAT US his at the end of the year after taking US history and ended up with a 380 LOL. i also dropped AP gov at the beginning of my senior year since i kinda saw that it wasn’t really my thing. i took US history last quarter and barely passed. this quarter i’m taking world history and i’m struggling right now. (stupid GE requirements - -"). i thought i was gonna drop it but today i just figured out that the last day to drop was yesterday. i just suck at any kind of history xD.

Haha I know and that is nothing compared to some of the kids at my school. I kinda regret doing that because that made my junior year hell. lol. but atleast i got it out of the way.

And I also have my POLS 12 (American Government and Politics) taken care of because I took POLS 101 at SBCC last summer. And I’m taking Chicano Studies this summer at SBCC too.

I almost took AP Art, Spanish, and English this year too…but I decided I wanted a break =).

None of those would have helped me at UCSB anyways, except for English…but I’m hoping I can just do well on the AWPE.

Yeah I can’t wait for testing to be over too.

I took APUSH and APLang last year. (I got 4’s on both)

This year I’m taking APGov, APLit, and AP Bio…however I don’t think I’m going to do good on the tests. I’ve been slacking off, especially after finding out I got into UCSB.

Can someone tell me how to send AP scores? I know what I’ve passed, but I can’t find it anywhere on collegeboard.com so they aren’t official yet. I didn’t send it when I first took them because I didn’t know I was going to UCSB. So how do you send your official scores now?

If you’re taking Calc AB, and you’re planning on entering a science type major, do your best.
Getting a 3 or a 4 will pass you out of Math 3A
Getting a 5 will pass you out of Math 3A & 3B.
(Just passing Calc BC will get you out of both, I believe.)

You could ideally start in Math 3C, which knocks two quarters of math out of the way. I was stoked when I heard I didn’t have to do 3a/b.

one thing, though, is that getting a 5 on cal AB only gives you 4 units (for math 3a) although you can skipp 3b and go on to 3c. so, you can still take 3b and get credit for it. you can easily get an A too ;).

I got a 5 on Calc AB, and I wasn’t allowed to take Math 3B. Since I passed out of it, I was unable to take it due to the double matriculation rule. I had to start in Math 3C.

(Just passing Calc BC will get you out of both, I believe.)

^Yep, that’s what I wanna do (comp sci major).

and ashlee…if you’re taking any APs this year there’s a section on the fill-in name/address bubble parts where you indicate if you want to send scores to a specific school…and it sends all scores up to 4 years past (so basically all scores you got throughout hs.)

@mikepaer: oh, i guess it’s different for engineering then. i’m in letters and science and i asked them if i could take math 3b, they said i could so i took it and got credit for it.
