which Bio courses to take?

Hey all: I'm going to Brown next fall, and they don't have any set bio courses for pre-meds. Instead, they just say to take 2 bio courses. So, my question is, what should I take? Since I wasn't fortunate enough to have AP Bio at my school, I'll start taking Foundations of Living Systems, but from there I don't know what to take: genetics, physiology, etc?

Any thoughts, especially which 2nd bio course will help prepare me best for the MCATs?

(Also, since I'm planning on majoring in human biology, any thought on 2nd and third bio courses would be helpful too)

thanks!

I heard genetics is highly recommended for med schools. Correct me if I'm wrong.

In order, most to least relevant for the MCATs:

Physiology, Cell Biology, Genetics, General Biology. Big drop-off. Developmental biology, Microbiology.

Many more courses are relevant for medical school. The obvious candidates include neuroscience, immunology, any kind of histology or pathology coursework. The major ones, however, are Anatomy and Biochemistry.

I didn't know they tested anatomy on the MCAT. Really? Hmm...

Since I'm planning on majoring in Human Biology, I'll get Intro Bio, Genetics, Intro to Neuroscience, Intro to Biochemistry, a class in "Organismal or Population Bio" (whatever that means), and one other bio elective.

They don't test anatomy on the MCAT. He said that it's just relevant for med school. Obviously, anatomy would be a course you'll be taking in med school. I took histology this past semester. Not terribly fun but not bad either.

Physiology and genetics are my top two. Physiology > genetics.
