Hi, I was just wondering which schools have fencing. I have always thought it looked really cool and I want to try it in Boarding School.

search bsr or go floating around their sites. PEA maybe, i think i saw something like a fencing club…

thank you!

I’m pretty certain PA does. I don’t know if it’s competitive though.

Exeter has a club and we compete with other schools. You can also do it as a club sport (instead of a varsity/jv sport). It’s a lot of fun and is a lot harder than it looks.

thank you everyone, this is really helpful!

Lawrenceville does. I plan on trying it out if I get in.

NMH has it, but not as a competitive sport, just a pe option.

thank you!!

Masters in Dobbs Ferry, NY has fencing

Andover, but not as a team sport, as a club, for sure

I reallllyyy appreciate everyones comments and I know I have said this soooo many times before but I really do mean it Thank You!!!

I was searching around the BS forums to see which of the top-tier NE schools had fencing. I’m surprised that so few offer programs on par with their other varsity sports.

Based on our visit a few weeks ago, I think PEA’s club program will be a varsity sport soon, btw.

Andover, L’ville and Exeter have fencing, but as far as I know, only L’ville’s team competes. Our tour guide there was on the team and she said that there were so few competing teams that the travel involved was extensive. Perhaps that is why most don’t have varsity fencing - the extraordinary time committment involved due to travel.

My son plans to fence at Exeter, by the way.

I am not on the fencing team, but Girls went undefeated and Boys faired well overall as well

the grier school does . Im not sure if its competitive though.

@LLVILLE: I am very familiar with Lawrenceville, since our kids attend a solid day school in the Princeton area just a few miles away. For boarding options, we have focused on New England schools exclusively.

PDS?
Hun?
Stewart?

those are the first few that came to my mind

@LLVILLE: Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner…;-P

The Association of Boarding Schools has an advanced search feature. [The Association of Boarding Schools - TABS](http://www.boardingschools.com/find-a-school/search-tools/guided-search.aspx)

As with anything, websites are only as accurate as their last updates. There may be schools which offer fencing which are more than 1,000 miles away from our New England zipcode. If you’re interested in fencing, you should run the search with your own zipcode.
