I don’t know if this will matter but here is an excuse for my low uw gpa…i attended an extremely competitive public high school in the bay area my freshman and sophomore year with a student body that was 85% asian. most students got good grades by either sharing test papers/answers etc. amongst themselves (i was a loner…all the popular kids did this) as well as going to tutoring centers (our neighborhood is surrounded by them) that have past tests from most of the teachers (my parents never sent me to tutoring even tho i used to whine to them…they wanted me to be independent). on the other hand, there were a lot of pure genius kids so yea…a pretty demoralizing experience overall. oh ya…an i think this is common in a lot of public schools in america but literally none of the teachers taught and honors courses were worse than non-honors courses. basically, the teacher would say, “you guys are honors students so you should be able to do everything on your own,” and then just give us a bunch of easy worksheets and time-crunching tests with extremely hard free response questions (stem classes were the hardest at that school).my parents decided to move me to a private school (which i am so thankful they did) and so i was able to bring my gpa up by A LOT.

So yea…i realize regardless of which high school i attended, the grades i got in my freshman and sophomore year will follow me around. do you guys think i might still have a chance at some bs/md or bs/do programs? and if so, which ones? (i just don’t want to waste application fee money on schools i have no shot at getting into)

Thanks in advance!

Here’s a list of BS/MD programs:
https://www.premedhq.com/2011/07/list-of-bamd-programs.html

That’s about 100 programs.
Brown, WUSTL, Northwestern, and Rice probably are out of reach for your stats.
You should have a more or less realistic shot at the rest
(if not for direct admission into BS/MD programs, then for general admission).
The more competitive schools for general admission include Rochester, Lehigh, George Washington, Boston University, UMiami, and UIUC.

Unless your family can easily cover over $500K for one of the most expensive colleges plus med school,
your biggest challenge may be to find one with an affordable net cost.
Especially if cost is a concern, but you aren’t confident you can get enough need-based aid, check out the University of Alabama.

Check out Ohio University’s program. They have a BS/DO program. Off hand I do not know what the minimum requirements are but I think you might be in the ballpark. It is competitive, however, so just meeting the requirements does not mean you’ll be accepted.
