I will be a business, transfer student. Are there any schools on my list that you see and think, “Dude, please don’t pick that school.” I haven’t yet heard from all of these schools yet, but most of them. I’m just curious what people think.
Fordham University
University of Washington (Foster School of Business)
NYU (Stern)
Northwestern (Kellogg)
Gonzaga University
Seattle University
Tulane University
Arizona State University (W.P. Carey School of Business)
No, but NU has economics and the placement is excellent. I would rank them in the following five tiers for undergraduate business/economics irrespective of price:
Northwestern
NYU
Fordham University
University of Washington
Arizona State University (Barrett only)
University of Pittsburgh
Purdue University
Gonzaga University
Seattle University
Tulane University
Binghamton University (SOM)
American University
University of Miami (Florida)
University of Oregon
Arizona State (non-Barrett)
IMO there is a big difference between studying economics and being in a business program. One is not better or worse, but there is a big difference. Economics is a liberal arts course of study and it gets very theoretical at the upper levels. In a b-school students take a core curriculum consisting of into classes in areas such as accounting, finance, IT, marketing etc. and will then major in one of those disciplines. Anyone deciding between economics and a b-school should take the time to look at the curriculum for each option and determine the best fit.
That said, if the OP wants an undergrad b-school take Northwestern off the list. If the OP is fine in a liberal arts economics course of study, keep it on.
@happy1, thanks for the discussion on Northwestern. When I first applied, I got ahead of myself. “It’s Kellogg. Kellogg is a top business school.” I didn’t really research the “little” issue of there not being an undergraduate business school. I’ll have to spend some thing weighing the pros/cons of Northwestern.
