New York City - Central Park West. Classic Six overlooking the park.

Clearly I have thought about this…

Charleston, SC so we did move here.
We’ve lived in Europe and Asia, and like to move around, so we would consider living in select cities overseas again.

Vienna, Austria. Or possibly Innsbruck or Salzburg. I’d love to be in the alps, but not a tiny village.

Edinburgh was a great suggestion too! Loved it there.

Nothing is holding us back. We live where we want to and always have.

There is no city that is even remotely tempting, though plenty of areas with beaches do - like Kauai, but only for the winter. We enjoy our farm in spring and summer, but could be tempted to go further north - Canadian Maritimes maybe - in the summer. We might just wander rather than putting down other roots too. We’re testing that at times now.

We like our space and we like seeing the planet - not tall buildings and traffic - the actual planet.

New York, in a heartbeat. That’s where family and friends are, and a great city to grow old in.

So many great suggestions! It’s hard to narrow in my own favorites!

Cities I haven’t been, but would on reputation alone:

Amsterdam
Auckland

Cities I’ve been to and could easily live in:

Barcelona
Grindelwald
Oslo

Domestic:
A small beachside town on Lake Michigan in spring, summer, fall
An oceanside small Southern California town (San Diego-ish) winter

International:
A small seaside town in the South of France. Cassis would be an example.

In order of preference…
Maui (nearly anywhere on the island)
Manhattan (Upper East Side)
London (Covent Garden)
Barcelona (preferably walking distance to museums)
Amsterdam (on a canal)

enjoying following this thread for ideas. Have a dream to spend the colder months “elsewhere” in our retirement years. Just not sure where that elsewhere will be.

We’re exploring too. Covid put a stop to it for a year, but this winter we’ll be testing the USVI. They weren’t top of our list without Covid, but they were on it and made the top for this winter because we’re unsure of how Covid will be playing out elsewhere.
