I am starting Aerospace Engineering major in Fall with a lot of credits from APs, so I would like to use time to learn some programing.
Which class is better for me to take: ECE 15 or CSE 8A.
I don't have any programing experience, and I would like to use my programing skills latter on in my major.

bump…

Which class gives me more programing experience: CSE 8A+8B or ECE 15

Are they in different languages?

I know they are in different languages. (ECE 15 - C & CSE 8 - Java)
But which is better for Aerospace Engineer?
I don’t have any programing experience.
I know only that C is old language and Java is new and is easier to learn.

CSE 8 for an easier time in the first half but which will give you a strong foundation in programming nonetheless; ECE 15 to familiarize with a language which IMO is more relevant to an engineer. I actually heard that C is a better language to start with than Java because it is a grandpa language in that it is the foundation for Java, C++, etc.

I personally think you should take ECE 15, considering your major. For a more easygoing, slower intro to programming, take CSE 8. Either one will give you the programming skills you need so I wouldn’t worry too much about your choice.
BTW I think engineering classes at higher levels use C and its variants.

To take CSE 8 I need to take test before and I can get it only when I freshman.
How about ECE 15, do I need to take test? This class is open to every student.

So can I take CSE 8 as a freshman and ECE 15 latter as a junior?

I took CSE 8A as a freshman and didn’t need to take a test to get in. You might have to take a test if you want to go straight to CSE 8B, but otherwise you can take it your first quarter. I think my friends took ECE 15 their freshman quarter as well.

Do you need to take either ECE 15 or CSE 8 or both? I think ECE 15 would be more helpful for you as an engineer, but to be honest, I think Matlab is the programming language they’re all using now? One of my friends is an aerospace engineer, and the only programming class he has taken is matlab (he is an upcoming sophomore). I say focus on doing your other GEs and major requirements before delving into CSE 8 or ECE 15.
