I already registered for classes, but I'm having second thoughts on whether I should switch my lecture and discussion times for BUAD 250A (principles to accounting) to the combined lecture-discussion section?

Does it really matter which option you choose? I've heard from friends that having lecture and discussion separately is better, but I have a friend that argues that you'll be watching lectures online anyways...

Any suggestions and insights that you guys can offer me?

I took the class in Spring of 08, so I dont know if they changed the way the class works over the past year. However, I took the online version of the class that only met for a discussion section once every two weeks. I really liked the online version, because it gave me a lot more free time and allowed me to watch the lectures online whenever I wanted. However, the online version of class does require more self study and it is very easy to get behind on watching the online lectures if you dont make an effort to stay on top of it.

I also enjoyed the online lecture/in person discussion mix when I took it back in Fall 06.
Basically I was able to go at my own pace, figure out most of the material on my own and then use the discussions to effectively ask Merle about the really confusing material.
And it’s always nice to be able to curl up on the couch and watch the lectures…I think I would’ve fallen asleep if I had to go in person…kinda wish 250b also had the same format.

Doesn’t really matter either way…all the assignment/quizzes/tests will be similar. It’s just a matter of personal preference. It’s really great if you have a job/internship or other commitment and tend to have more time during the evenings/weekends to watch the lectures.

are the lectures in that terrible video format that BUAD-304 online lectures used where you couldn’t click on which part of the lecture you wanted to start from so you just had to watch it from the beginning?
