I'm going to be freshman at BU and I had a question about classes. I'm going to be taking an intro to psychology class that is one hour long lectures on mondays, wednesdays, and fridays. The problem is, the teacher who teaches that particular intro to psych class only has his/her discussion hours on tuesdays, which I scheduled to be my day off. Would it make sense to take a discussion hour for the same class with a different teacher if it makes it so I can have the discussion hour on either monday, wednesday, or friday? I'm just not sure if a lecture with one teacher and a discussion hour with another teacher is such a good idea. What do you guys think? (Particularly those who have completed at least one year in college.)

I would really appreciate any kind of help as soon as possible because classes are filling up and I would need to make a change very soon if I want the best time slot possilbe.

How important to you is it to have a day off? I haven't had a day off and it really hasn't been an issue with me, however having a day or two a week to sleep in more than usual was nice. I actually liked having classes every day of the week so that I would get up and actually do something intsead of lounging in my room and procrastinating.

I had the opposite experience. First semester this year I had classes only MWF, second I had them every day, and I much preferred having Tuesdays and Thursdays off so that I could take care of errands, work during the day, study, etc. (although I definitely know what theflute means about just lounging around). Honestly, though, I doubt that that one hour discussion is going to be a huge deal. It might even be better b/c you'll have time to review the material monday night and see what you might be having trouble with. What time is the discussion on tuesdays?

Oh yeah, I also don't think it's a good idea to do a discussion with a different professor than your normal lecturer. Even though the classes might cover the same material, each professor has their own way of doing things, they put emphasis on different material, etc. You want to make sure that you really know the material that you may be tested on! The class dynamic is also different; something that might have been covered really well in your lecture might weasel its way into the discussion section of another class, and that's just a waste of your own time.

Alright, thanks alot.
