<p>US San Diego is also quite modern. It’s also an excellent university with opt-notched biomed and premed programs.</p>

<p>Almost everything on Penn’s campus west of 36th street is built in modernist styles, and the main library (Van Pelt) is also modern. I consider this a bad thing, but you might like the high rises, van pelt, and the number of modern and postmodern buildings on and off penn’s campus.</p>
<p>I don’t know anything about architectural styles, but when we visited Brandeis, we were struck by how different the campus buildings were from the usual red brick look. I considered it “modern.” Carnegie Mellon had a modern feel to us, as well. Great academics at both schools, of course.</p>
<p>Although W & M does have some brand-new facilities (post #2 above), the campus definitely retains its classic look. No matter how much revitalization is going on, it’s always going to be an ivy-covered school. Don’t think it’s what the OP is looking for.</p>
