I've been accepted to Michigan State, University of Michigan Ann Arbor, and College for Creative Studies all majoring in art. I'd like to become a medical illustrator, and I understand that you really have to get a grad for that field. I'm hoping (fingers crossed) to get into Johns Hopkins' medical illustration grad program after I earn my undergrad, even though I know it's ridiculously competitive...but that's my "shoot for the stars" dream. Which college would best prepare me for that path? I know CCS is pretty revered as an art school, but I dunno if it would give me the pre-med type credits/experience I would need.

Since you’ll need biology coursework in addition to your art studies, the choice pretty much comes down to UM or MSU. Michigan is the better school, but you can find the courses you need at both. Decide on the basis of which school is the best fit as a place you’d most like to spend four years. Also, check the backgrounds of faculty in the art programs to see if any of them have backgrounds in medical or scientific illustration, check how easy it is to combine coursework in art with coursework in biology. I believe UM might even allow you to do an art major and a major in nursing or as a joint major in other schools ([Joint Degree in Art & Design](http://art-design.umich.edu/programs/undergraduate/joint_degree)). Compare the studio facilities, access to courses, requirements, opportunities in preferred art emphases (e.g., illustration), etc. in the art programs.
