You might work only 12 hour days on Fri/Sat/Sun and be full time. Or you might work 10 hour days for 7 days and get every other week off. There are alot of creative schedules in health care!
Exactly.

Now quit getting so defensive and emotional.

By the way, ad hominem attacks don't help, they hurt.
Again, trying to impress people. Ad hominem attacks have no relevance here because it usually refers to attacking the person BEFORE addressing the issue. We already addressed the issue before we started to get to "know" each other...

Explain to me how I'm trying to "impress" people.

Ad hominem attacks aren't warranted just because you've addressed the issue. Addressing the issue doesn't give you carte blanche to insult another person.

By using terminology to "sound" sophisticated without really knowing what it means.

For example:

Now for what you said:
Ad hominem attacks aren't warranted just because you've addressed the issue.
Where did I say they were warranted? Again, this is just you coming to inaccurate conclusions and assumptions.

Gee...hmm...I'm sorry if you feel offended?

if Bill Gates was never a programmer how would he have come upon his fortune? Would magically have appeared because he was a "businessman"?

If he was interested in business/management, why isn't he a CEO? He has a passion for the science that goes into programming rather than the profits of it.

I used to think this way too. That is why I went into engineering and totally live to regret it.
It is NOT technically skills that will make you rich. You can pay someone to do all the technical stuff for you.

It is business skills and having enough money to make your idea into reality, or working around the lack of capital like Dell in the beginning.

Just think about it, if technical skills and other such stuff is so important, why is not every billionaire a professor? There ARE PhD's that become billionaires (e.g. CEO of Yahoo(?), CEO of Google), but that again isn't because of their technical skills.

^^Paul Allen was the programmer/technology genius behind Microsoft...he too, however, is a multi-billionaire.

A pretty wealthy business man once told me, "I would rather have timing and luck than education and training."

Engineering + MBA =Gold

Yes, because "ad hominem" and "carte blanche" are incredibly technical and sophisticated words. Besides, what words did I misuse?

So then you're admitting that you're being a jerk, or what?

Maybe a little, but that's not the point. CC is about civil discourse (as much as possible.) You've been patently uncivil several times. It's just not cool.

Didn't the google guys drop out of their PhD CS program prior to completion?

One of the google guys was grad student in computer science at Stanford. The other was an MBA student. I think they both dropped out.

i think one was a grad student in computer science and one was a grad student in math.

Oh, I thought that they both did computer science. Anyone take the time to read the history or research it for a few minutes?

Both Brin and Page were PhD students in computer science. Brin, however, did take a mathematics major while at University of Maryland.

Brin recently received an honorary MBA from the Instituto de Empresa. Neither has done formal MBA studies as far as I know.

IEOR is pretty good. My coworker will be graduating in May and already got hired for a 60k job.

I'm interested in both Biochemistry and Busniess. I'm a senior in high school right now (attending Emory next year), but I'm curious as to how you guys think I should tie them together. i.e. major in Biology then get an MBA... attempt to double major to get a BBA in Business and then go on to get PH.d... which is potentially most profitable?

^ just wait until you arrive at college. your perception may change quite a bit.

getting into a PHD program is very difficult for business, finance being the hardest to get into because of the limited number of spots. Why major in bio if your going to come back for a MBA? Having a bio degree can help in some instances, but usually it only help when you have a PHD or your a doctor

Also, double major doesn't necessarily mean higher profits.

PETROLEUM ENGINEERING
at Texas A&M University

is the highest paying engineering major, and tamu is the #1 PetE undergrad.

get a job with schlumberger or somebody and go overseas. there is a multiplier for each country. i think the salary multiplier is about 1.7x for iraq, so you can have a starting salary out of college of 100k, and not have to spend much of it in iraq cause you're living in a sand box!

or you could just take the 1.2x multiplier and work in jamaica, where houses cost 1/4 what they do here... "right by the beach!" - half baked

Oh boy! $10K more a year so I can live in fear of insurgents blowing me up/decapitating me! Just what I've always wanted! :p

ok...my friends older bro is going to leighigh on a acedemic scholarship in engineering. thing he has no life? ive never met someone who partied harder, smoked more or has been arrested more times for smoking

look me in the eye, tell me he doesnt have fun
