I'm a rising senior, and I'm not sure which two colleges in Cornell I should be applying to if I want to major in psychology. I know my primary choice is going to be the College of Arts and Sciences, but what about the alternative?

I thought it would probably be between Agriculture and Life Sciences and Human Ecology. But, I'm not sure which would be better for psychology?

Does anyone have any ideas?

you’re probably thinking of human development in human ecology

Only CAS has a psychology major. The College of Human Ecology has a Human Development major that encompasses psychology, social sciences and the life sciences. CALS does not have a psychology major.

You don’t have to apply to two colleges and I don’t necessarily recommend you do. Only applicants with superb qualifications (as deemed by the adcom of their primary college) will have their application forwarded to the applicant’s secondary choice. As I’m sure you can imagine, very few applicants are accepted to their second choice if the primary college does not admit the student.

I know that my chances of getting into my secondary choice college aren’t too great if I’m rejected from my primary choice, but I figure it’s worth a try. But yes, I’ll go with college of Human Ecology and human development.

Thanks!
