Hello all,

As a student from the United States, I had decided to apply almost entirely internationally rather than stay in the US. I applied to a ton of unis and now I am sort of overwhelmed with choosing.

So far I have been accepted to UBC in Vancouver, McGill in Montreal, SOAS in London, St Andrews, University of Edinburgh, University of Amsterdam, Maastricht University and the University of Geneva.

I have just been interviewed for a dual degree between UBC and Sciences Po as well as my interview for Sciences Po proper in Paris, so I would say it's fairly likely I'll get in either directly to Sciences Po or with the dual degree program.

Beyond Sciences Po, the only uni I am still waiting for is UCL but I have my doubts that I'll get in there. At whichever school I choose I will be studying international relations. So does anyone have any advice or experience with any of these schools?

Thanks a lot!

I was also accepted into the University of Oregon, but I would say that it’s pretty much off the table now that I have these other choices.

McGill has the best rep for a Canadian school

So your understanding of written and spoken French, English, and Dutch (some might include Scottish) is that good? And you can write and speak in all of them as well? How’s your Flemish and German?

I would go with UBC Sciences Po since you get to live in Europe AND Canada, and get degrees that are widely recognized in both. Next, I’d pick Edinburgh or McGill’s because they’re great universities, with an edge for Edimburgh since it’s in a totally different culture and there’s sort of a campus life, which Mc Gill doesn’t have.

@jkeil911 first, I would point out that Flemish is just a dialect of Dutch but beyond that I am fluent in all three, English, Dutch, and French.

just a dialect as in Scottish is just a dialect of English? I’m glad to hear your Flemish is that good and the others as well. I’m jealous. I’d go to UCL in a heartbeat if you get in. Not too far behind would be the dual program at UBC. Did I mention I’m jealous? Oh, you’re so lucky!
