I’m a HS junior, and my ideal university is Georgia Tech. However, I honestly don’t think I will be accepted. So, I’ve been thinking about other options, such as transferring.
If I would like to transfer to GA tech, would it be better to first go to Georgia State with the honors program or University of Georgia as a regular student?
Thank you and any other advice is greatly appreciated!
If you get into UGA, good for you! You should go there in a heartbeat, you’ll have a blast and might not want to leave after all. It’s a big college, there will always be things to do and you would love it so much more! That kind of social life really isn’t there at schools like KSU, State, or UNG. Assuming you want to transfer, I would still recommend UGA. The classes could be more difficult, but it’s becoming a much more prestigious college and I think it would look better on a transfer app.
As for honors or regular, who cares? Honors really just changes the difficulty or setting of a course. As an honors student myself, I would say that it has little impact on your transfer intentions. I personally enjoy my honors classes more than my others but I wouldn’t let honors status decide where you should go for you.
Thank you for your advice! It’s hard for me to explain, but even though I understand UGA is becoming a more prestigious college and should not be considered a backup, if I’m honored to go there, deep down I feel like I will be unhappy and ashamed and bitter. I don’t want to be like that. Your comment made me feel more optimistic of UGA, so thank you
