I’ve been accepted to Montana Tech, SDSMT, tagged UCR, and have a few other schools I’m awaiting responses. Petroleum for MT, Geo engineering for SDSMT, mechanical for UCR. Could any of you brilliant, knowledgeful people provide me substantive evidence that would help me pinpoint the direction I should take in life? As you can see, I am at a crossroads. I love being outdoors. I’m awaiting to hear back from U of Utah and a few more schools in California. What about Texas schools? THANK YOU!!!
Do you currently live in California?
Could you specify what you mean by “direction I should take in life”? Do you mean college degree field, college/university, future career interests, or two or three thereof?
Can you afford whatever schools are out of state for you? As far as field I would lean toward Mech E. It’s more broadly useful.
Which state do you claim residence in? SDSM&T is an excellent college and a tuition bargain but you should have a demonstrably good reason for tuning down engineering at at U of C campus if you’re a Californian.
What state are you from?

I have recently gone back to school majoring in petroleum engineering.
I have two felonies on my record and I’m wondering if this will disqualify any hopes of a career in the field. Please, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I will be applying 2015 to Mines, Fairbanks, U of T at Austin, New Mexico, Wyoming, and possibly Montana. I will be visiting Bakersfield next week after hearing about their new PetE program. Plea

You have a couple of serious issues. You have 2 felonies on your record. Those will severely limit your ability to get eng’g employment. I hope you’re not taking out loans, or borrowing much, because you may find those loans very difficult to pay back if your employment options are very limited.
Since you mentioned, “tagged UCR,” that sounds like you’re a Calif resident attending a CC there.
How would you pay for the OOS publics that you mention??
Yes I do.
That runner kid I’d say all three.
Mom2ckids, you would be surprised to know what cc students such as myself could pay for.
Thanks erins dad
Jerseygirl, California. Lake, are you saying that UCs are far more superior to any of the out of states I’ve mentioned. I’m looking at job placement rates.
