I am looking for a school that has a great political science program as well as an economics program. Athletics are always good for a school to have, especially when they compete in football and basketball. The location of the school is always huge to me too. I don't want a school that isn't near anything. A school with a good greek scene is also good too as I probably will want to rush my freshman year. Any other questions I'd be happy to answer! Thanks!

Penn state sounds like it might be a good fit for you. You should check it out for yourself and decide if it might be something you’re interested in. Good academics and it sounds like the economics recruiting on campus is pretty high.

Penn State is the definition of the middle of nowhere (for a state of 13 million). Many large state flagships are in the middle of their states, put there for travel convenience and to serve as an employment center for rural counties. I love the place because it’s so rural, but it’s 1.5 hours to Harrisburg for crying out loud. State College does have a movie theater, tho, or at least they had one recently.

OP, the college search for real starts with money. Pick 3 or 4 different kinds of schools and get your parents’ help to run each school’s “net price calculator” to determine what it’s going to cost you, approximately, to go to such a school. You’ll need your parents’ most recently filed federal tax return; don’t wait til 0415. The NPC will provide you with the Estimated Family Contribution or EFC. That’s the most important question you can answer right now. Then you and your parents can have a serious conversation about what kinds of schools you can consider based on what kind of money the schools say it will cost you.

Everything else is superfluous at this point. Then come back and tell us about kinds of schools and regions in which you’re interested.

That would help a lot jkeil^^ I just threw out a suggestion. More info is always better. I guess I forgot they didn’t want to go to a college in the middle of nowhere. Sorry.
