This seemed to work for that other guy, so I'm asking the same question.

I'm a math major, fairly smart (2300 SAT), not interested in partying or anything like that, and generally an introvert. Also I generally like other intelligent people.

hm.. crown might be good then, but do you think there are any others that might work well for me?

I really think Crown has too high a concentration of the ‘geeky’ types because in the brochure it speaks of the College’s emphasis on science and whatnot. That emphasis is mostly in name only; it may have some themed events that are related to science, but it’s really nothing at all. You’ll probably find more people there that are very smart and less extroverted there than anywhere else, but that’s just my limited perspective, and not to say they don’t exist elsewhere.

The Colleges here do seem to really befit the stereotypes… some more than others. I’ve lived in Cowell and Stevenson, and they’re not bad at all, but I’ve never found much apparent sophistication going on there, or really anywhere for that matter.

Crown could be for you, but I hate to just recommend it for the above reasons.

Too many geeks? Depends on the type of person you are. I like it just fine. Higher population than normal, but I don’t feel smothered by it.

I can’t speak for other colleges and if they fit your criteria, but I can talk for Crown. It is quiet overall. You won’t find many people being intrusive with how much noise they make. Parties and drinking are around, but again, not intrusive. They’re more often private events between a group of friends rather than something that takes over your hallway. You have to know people to find them.

In Crown you benefit from being surrounded by people who are serious about school. You’ll likely find a good number of people in your major within your own building, which is very helpful when it comes to collaborating on school work.

Most of the events in Crown are sciencey. We host the Social Fiction Conference. We often have movie nights hosted at the dining hall or lounge. Some geeky, like Firefly, and other of them documentaries or the like regarding science history. We also have science tables, which is a small event that 20 or students sign up for (first come first serve) to have dinner with the provost and a professor, who gives a lecture on their specialty. I went to a few of these, and they’ve talked from everything from mass extinction to nanotechnology.

Other than Crown you might like Merrill, or 9/10.
