looking for the college that is most like hogwarts any ideas?

I am going to closely watch this thread... :)

Yale: it looks like it and has residential colleges like the houses.

Also Princeton.

Yeah, I went to a Yale info session in my town, and when they described the residential system, it sounded EXACTLY like Hogwarts. It was awesome!

Rawr I don't remember what it was called but there was a college somewhere in the UK that looked EXACTLY like Hogwarts. One of my friends showed me a picture. I don't remember but it was either from England or Scotland. This is going to bug me now...

okay how about which colleges have the highest concentration of slytherin type people or give off a slytherin vibe? ravenclaw? hufflepuff? gryffindor?
also: what would someone classified as slytherin be most likely to major in? most likely major for ravenclaw? for hufflebpuff? gryffindor?
VERY provocative answers so far

roman-
possibly Durham University - parts of the movies were filmed at Durham Cathedral, which is literally right across the street. They look very similar.

as for that matter, I'm fairly certain that Princeton was modeled after Durham Cathedral, so therefore it looks hogwartsy-esque. Furthermore, Duke was modeled after Princeton's architecture (and just happens to be in Durham, NC).
I almost enrolled at Duke because of how much it looks like Hogwarts... (and a bunch of other reasons, of course)

Then I visited WUSTL and fell in love with the school (it also has a library that looks very harry potterish which helps :D)

Alnwick Castle was another place that was used as part of the entire look of Hogwarts (adding a lot of spires to make it bigger)

edit:

There's a pic of durham cathedral- they used that big courtyard in the first and second movies.
and heres alnwick castle: http://www.visitalnwick.org.uk/photos/scenic/alnwick-castle-1.jpg
(Visiting England/Scotland was like heaven for my hp nerdiness)

Rhodes College in Memphis... It's a gem

Umm...I think someone's obsessed with Harry Potter! :)

Orly?
Is it that obvious?

As somebody mentioned, parts of Durham are in the movie, as well as some pieces from St. Andrew's University in Scotland. Most of the Oxbridge colleges also look a lot like Hogwarts.

I don't care about where I go to school, but I'm gonna live in a goddamn castle when I grow up.

Emma Watson is a very versatile actor

and cute.

Deffinatly Uchicago, trust me, the architecture is rediculous: one of their dining halls was 2nd on the list of potential dining halls for the movie. Also, their student body is the most magical.

Rice is also very like Hogwarts with its residential colleges.

^
Huh?
That's so random...

The University of Chicago was the second pick for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movies, so I think it wins.

Oxford and Cambridge. A lot of the attributes Rowling gave to Hogwarts, especially the house system, came from these two. Oxford was also the location for a fair bit of the filming.

^I have a calendar of 365 Places to See Before You Die, and it showed All Souls' College at Oxford University. It was definitely the Quidditch scene from the first movie.

The great hall in the movies was modeled after one of the dining halls at Oxford

but there aren't any colleges that teach magic :(
