I am an Asian American from a poor family with parents that did not attend high school. I would be the first one in my family to attend college. I also am fully fluent in 2 languages (Chinese and English). Can you give me some reaches, high matches, low matches, and safeties?
Look at the links on the left and use the Supermatch tool on the left.
Depending on your UC GPA, UCSD and UCI could be considered matches. Low reaches or high match would be UCB or UCLA.
I live in the east coast, so are there any colleges recommended in the east?
There are literally hundreds of fine undergraduate Biology Departments out there. You need to come up with a list of attributes and features that appeal to you; large college or small? Urban or remote? Mountains or lakes nearby? Intense club or activities culture? Gender balance or imbalance? Internationalist flavor? Near home or far away? By the way, unless you are from California you will not be admitted to the U of California system.
OK, that’s a start.
Think about…
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
U of Rochester
Marist College
Connecticut College
Trinity College
Vassar College
Allegheny College
Juniata College
Lafayette College
Ohio Wesleyan University
U of Dayton
Saint Mary’s College of Maryland
What is your home state? Here are some options that may work: http://automaticfulltuition.yolasite.com/
Another option to consider is placement in an Honors College or honors program in a larger state university such as the University of Alabama, the University of South Carolina, the University of Tennessee - Knoxville, Ole Miss, etc.
There are also public honors universities (such as Saint Mary’s College of Maryland, mentioned above), or ones that are focussed on liberal arts and/or sciences such as Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri; the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri; or the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama.
