which Cuny/Suny college has better programs on computer software engineering?

im currently enrolled in Baruch as a freshmen, want transfer to a college that has better courses for computer programmer/software engineering. Anyone know which Cuny/Suny is good way to go? Thank you.

SUNY Stony Brook by a mile. SUNY Buffalo is a distant but decent second.

I don’t know anything about the CUNY system.

Here is a list of the CUNY programs -

[TIPPS – Registered Academic Programs](http://student.cuny.edu/cgi-bin/RegisteredPrograms/Programs.pl?STYLE=NEW&GRADONLY=NO&COLLEGE=All&LEVEL=All%20Undergraduate&KEYWORD=All)

You can also search the SUNY site for programs:
[SUNY: Program Search](http://www.suny.edu/student/search_programs/currfd_oas_main.cfm)

FYI-
USNWR (2008) ranking of engineering programs (What I have does not break it down to major other than engineering):
RANK:

57 SUNY BUFFALO

70 SUNY STONY BROOK

Buffalo is known for it’s engineering programs and they are quite impressive. They are in the midst of building a new engineering building and expanding the dept. Generally speaking, SB is more highly ranked as a univ. but not for engineering.
Hope this helps though I can’t imagine you can go wrong with either of these. I don’t see any other SUNY or any CUNY on this list.

^ What you say is true, but Stony Brook is an outstanding school for computer science and mathematics.

Noimagination-
Absolutely true!!! I was just giving USNWR rankings. They are interesting because there are many schools not in the general USNWR top tier that are in the top tier for engineering!!

UB and Stony Brook, as already mentioned. Which of the two is better? I couldn’t really tell you. I might hazard to guess UB, because of its size (which usually is accompanied by money), but I know a lot of people who go to UB, and overall, it doesn’t sound like a very good school. Of course that may be comparing it to higher-tier private schools. Among SUNY/CUNY, I hear UB is great for engineering.

Although UB might have a higher overall engineering ranking, the computer science department at Stony Brook (which is in the college of engineering I believe) has an excellent reputation. Here are the Gourman rankings for undergraduate computer science programs (Stony Brook is 15th):
