Which do you pick?

Both of my friends are competing against each other, well they both have different EC's but very similiar GPA and SAT scores. They been competing since they were like in middle school....anyway they asked me, and frankly I think both are competitive, what do you think?

Rank-10 percent
SAT-2100
EC-Track Runner

2nd person
Rank-10 percent
SAT-2110
EC-Join the Mu Alpha Theta, but not active.

What are they competing for? Which schools are they looking at.

In my opinion, a track runner > mu alpha theta. Going to practices and competitions in a sport are, for the most part, more time consuming and grueling than just joining a math club.

Both applying to Harvard.

i wouldnt pick either if i was a harvard adcom.lol.

Their SAT scores are exceptional, though I don't know which EC is better?

Exceptional? For Harvard? are you kidding

yeah i hope they have more ECs that are better, b/c harvard probably wont be happening.

Rank-10 percent
SAT-2100
EC-Track Runner

neither of them are very competitive for harvard, but i would pick the track kid.

Actually the track kid solely joined because of college admissions, he doesn't know anybody there..

Neither has much of a shot at Harvard, unless the track kid is a recruited athlete or there's something we don't know (minority, legacy, first-generation, etc.)

to be honest, i doubt they'll get into any top 20 schools

Top 20? Over doing it there beefs.

no i dont think so.

lol, both rejected. really, i'm sure they have more. but the way you said it makes it seem like Person 2 is not involved in much? so i'd pick Person 1
