I've started looking into east coast schools that offer good support for LD students. I am a high school student with an IEP and have just begun to prep for SATs and look for "the right schools" Do you know about Colleges with good LD support? Thanks for any input!

I understand that American University in Washington DC has an excellent LD program. You apply to it separately when you make you admissions application.

“Good” LD support depends on the services the individual LD student needs to succeed at a particular college. And “good” support is not limited to schools with special, extra-fee LD programs; many students do quite well with the services (extra time, priority registration, distraction-free test site, time-management programs, etc.) from the campus disability office.

Also, if during hs you were exempt from foreign language or certain math courses, checking a college’s (1) distribution/graduation requirements (to rule out schools whose requirements may be beyond your abilites) and (2) the accommodations (course waivers/substitutions) available to LD students will prove more helpful than a general question about “good” support.
