As of now I'm planning on majoring in Economics in college, and most of the colleges on my list have a College of Arts & Sciences as well as a Business School. What keeps tripping me up is that both offer a degree in Economics. Is there a difference between the programs? Does anyone know what the pros/cons are of each, and whether or not one is better than the other? I need to figure out whether I'd rather take Economics in the arts & sciences department or in the business department since I've got to apply directly to the school I wish to study in.

I would consider the required core classes required for each - probably very different. If you are interested in classes such as marketing and advertising, you may not be able to take those unless you are in the business department. A more subtle consideration is which kind of peer group you would like to be in. Generally speaking, undergraduate business students are not the most academically inclined. If you are strong in math, which is a plus for econ, you could really layer on the math and computer science classes which is a useful combination. That sort of blend is probably more easily cobbled together in the College of Arts & Sciences.
