I was wondering which essay I should use for my Harvard supplement--one that I wrote specifically for Harvard, about my favorite books/authors, which sounds pretty intellectual and fancy-schmancy and loving of literature, or one that was a nixed Common App essay, about the Rotary Youth Leadership Conference I went to, which makes me sound nice and helpful and compassionate. The first one, I feel, is better written, but the second one makes me sound nice. I am not sure if my niceness shows in the rest of my app, or if there is even a need to show it.

Also, after changing my main Common App essay and sending, like, 4 applications, I realized that the topic is the same as my short activities essay (the topic for both is writing). Is that okay, or am I sooo not getting into those schools?

Cheers!
