So, I'm currently a junior, and I'll be attending college (hopefully) in the fall of 2009. But I won't be around this summer at all, nor will I have access to a computer more than once or twice (visiting a third-world country), so I'm a bit afraid that I can't get a jump start on my college applications this summer, and more specifically the essays. Can anyone tell me when colleges will most likely post up their applications for entrance in Fall 2009?

On a very, very similar note, and the main reason why I'm posting this topic here: the essays on U of Chicago's website right now (https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/level3.asp?id=376); are they for students entering college in 2008, or 2009? Stupid question, I know. Feel free to pelt me with pebbles or something, but I just gotta know.

Muchos gracias!

Hmm, I don't seem to have any pebbles handy......

Most colleges post their applications in between July and August, methinks. They usually say on the website, if not you could probably email them to find out. UChicago's are from last year, I believe. I read it on the website somewhere, I can't remeber where....

Hey imaginarywhale. I'm an admitted UChicago 2012 student and those were the 5 essays I had to choose from when I was applying so yep those are "last years" essays for you even though, confusingly enough, they say 2008-2009. The new questions came out around late July last year if I remember right.
Oh and if you're worried that you won't have enough time to get a head start on college essays early in the summer, don't.
I applied EA and only got started on my essays about a month before the deadline. You'll find that one night when you get an amazing idea your essay will seem like it's just flowing out of you and you'll be done within like an hour or two (w/o proofreading of course) Don't stress, have an amazing time doing what you're doing visiting a third world country and hopefully your experiences on the trip will turn into a great essay idea so your trip was a jump-start anyway ;)

De nada
