Do they take into considerations classes that are not transferable, what about majors courses vs gen ed? Also who decides who gets in? I imagine it to be like a machine that people put papers(transcript, essay, e.t.) into and after some noises and flashing lights, it prints out a response.

Oh and, does academic renewal erase classes that I've repeated?

Non-transferable classes aren’t counted.

This explains how different UCs evaluated transfer applicants. Some take the personal statement into consideration, some don’t (like UCD). Some UCs require you complete IGETC and all your major prepatory courses, while others don’t require finishing IGETC or major courses (like UCD).

Academic renewal only erases the repeated class from your CC transcript, from what I understand, but when you report your grades on your UC application, you still have to report the grade you got before you repeated the class.

Thanks a lot for the link SopranoKitty! I haven’t seen that before.

@ Andres760: Also, to build on sopranokitty’s post, the website ASSIST.org lets you know which of your community college courses are UC-transferrable. These are the ones that will be factored into their calculation of your GPA come application time.
