These are the CSU I got admitted. What are your thoughts about the environment and surroundings? Which one would you vote for the nicest CSU campus out of these 4?

CSU Chico
Sonoma State University
CSU Bakersfield
CSU East Bay

Thanks :)

They are all very different campuses and it really depends what you are looking for.

My order would be Chico, Sonoima, EB, then Bakersfeild. Here are their 6 year graduation rates:
Chico (59%)
Sonoma (57%)
East Bay (43%)
Bakersfield (41%)
If you want to graduate in a timely fashion, Chico and Sonoma seem like the easy choice.

Head up to Choose Chico day this weekend and Sonoma’s open house the 13th.
Sonoma is half the size of Chico.
East Bay is a commuter school which is not a bad thing if you need to commute.
Bakerfield is in Bakersfeild… you will love it or hate it just driving by on Hwy 99.
Good luck.

Haha, thanks I’ve been leaning towards Chico State too. I’m actually going to attend the Choose Chico event this coming Saturday with my parents. I just hope my parents would like it.

What are you looking for in a school?

Chico campus is gorgeous, Sonoma is a close second. Sonoma is half the size. Chico has a true campus environment, Sonoma is set away from town.

I’m looking for a CSU that has a college-town atmosphere and feeling but at the same time, has a good programs and classes with nice teachers and easy-to-approach students.

Based on what you are looking for, Chico has the most college town feel

But what do you say about their academics?

The graduation rates likely track the incoming students’ academic credentials (i.e. Chico probably gets better students overall than Bakersfield).

As far as academics, look at the catalogs and schedules to see what they offer, particularly in your major.

I’m a current SSU student. Sonoma State campus is beautiful. The air is clean and the weather is great. It is a smaller campus, but to me that is a plus. The dorms are amazing, with private kitchens and bathrooms. There are many jobs on campus. My freshman year I worked as a notetaker. Currently, I’m an usher at Weill Hall, the new, world class music center on campus. I also work as set up crew for music classes. The classes are small. Even my general education class only has 22 students in it. My average class is size, excluding ensembles (since I’m a music major and these need to be large) is around 15. I will be graduating in four years, even as the highest unit major on campus.
What major are you considering?

Thanks everyone for their answers but I think I’ve made up my mind. I’m going to CSU Chico. I went to their open house today and it was so much fun. Campus is incredibly beautiful (especially the creek), students are very approachable, and faculty and staff are always active and eager to help when you have questions.

I’m going there as a Biochemistry Major.

Flutetop: Thank you for your response. I was actually having a hard time choosing between Chico State and Sonoma State. Both are gorgeous and have a college town feel with small campus and therefore smaller classes and students which I really want. But Sonoma is known in their music program and Chico is for Education but I’ve heard that Chico Science program have been continually excelling for the last 5 years so I chose Chico :)
