Hello! In my city there is a new college prep school opening. My parents are trying to decide if I should go to that school, or the local public school. At the college prep school I can take more AP courses, and have a definite math class my senior year, however the public school has more extra curricular activities, which school would look better to college admissions officers, or would it really matter?

You might want to post this question on one of the high school forums http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16 or on the Parents Forum http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15.

Where do YOU want to go to high school?

I don't think it'll matter you just have to make them most of either one you go to

It wouldnt really matter, since Cornell looks at the opportunities you had, and at opportunities you took.

Do you like being among people who are serious about school -- the kind who care about things like APs? Or would you rather be with a more varied mix of people? You might want to think about that before you make your choice.

You would probably have more APs offered to you at the private school (CHECK first though)

You would probably have a larger class size in public school

You would probably have an easier time starting clubs and getting leadership positions in a smaller, newer prep school

Eton, baby, that's the ultimate private school (well it's technically public, but who cares).

I'm sure there must be a H.S in your county that offers a good number of AP courses and has a lot of potential for activities etc. I went to a public high school and i did 2 AP's on my own, 8 with the school and did dual enrollment. I'm sure there's something out there for you.

what's the name of the private school, maybe I can look up some information on it.

Where will you do your best at? I attended a really crappy high school and still got here.
