?

if they do recalculate GPA then most likely the Academic courses, including the core subjects of English,Math,Science,Social Studies, and foreign languages.

Core subjects and they look at any meaningful electives (4 years of drama, band, etc.)

It depends on the school. Some only count the 4 cores, some include foreign language too. Some would skip subgrades. Some would skip freshman grades. There is no universal way for GPA recalculation.

Virtually all schools remove Health, Phys Ed, Driver’s Ed, etc.
Top schools look for 5 cores: English, Math, Social Science, Science, Foreign Language.
Many take into account other classes such as art, music, cs, etc.
The UCs require art/music and do count it in the GPA (in fact you can’t apply if you don’t have an art or music class. Well, you can apply, but your application won’t be considered.) They also don’t count 9th grade, so your admission depends on 10th and 11th grade.

I’m not sure Virtually all schools remove those courses. Don’t many directional Us just take the HS GPA as given and don’t recalc? Same thing with CCs?

^ I agree. Some do not even recalculate GPA.

I assumed the question was for selective universities (those without automatic admissions…)
I guess it’d help if OP indicated what type of schools he was thinking of.

University of California (UCs)

Kreig01: This is the link to the a-g courses accepted by the UC system A-G Policy Resource Guide;
If you go to the CSU mentor website, you can input your a-g courses plus any qualified Honors and AP classes up to 8 semesters to get your UC/CSU GPA (weighted) <a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;
I hope this helps.
