My D has admission to both Ross and Olin business schools which includes some financial aid from both schools. Ross has always been a very good business school and Olin has made tremendous strides in last few years. Looking for some good advice on which school to select. Are job placements, education quality and internship opportunities comparable? I would appreciate some feedback. Thank you.

I would choose Olin.

Both are excellent. Pick the school where you feel the size, environment etc. suits you best. The only caveat is that if you don’t have a pre-admit to Ross and you have a direct acceptance into Olin, then I’d go with Olin

I am not so sure that Businessweek is a valid ranking. I tend to consider Wharton #1 at the undergraduate level, so when I see it at #7, I will question the validity of the ranking. And where was Sloan (MIT) in this ranking? I must say, very irregular. Generally speaking, Ross is considered a stronger Business school than Olin.

I would focus more on several factors:

Type of organization your D wishes to work for. The biggest employers at Olin will be companies like Deloitte Consulting, Anheuser Busch, Target and Bloomingdales. The biggest employers at Ross will be companies like JP Morgan, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and Microsoft.

Campus environment. WUSTL and Michigan have very different campus cultures. Some prefer WUSTL while others prefer Michigan.

Location. WUSTL is located in an upscale residential part of St Louis. Michigan is located in its own college town of Ann Arbor. The two locales could not be more different. Which one appeals more to your daughter.
