I’d like to get an opinion from anyone on which of these two scores would be the better one to submit (to colleges, that is, that don’t require you to submit all testing scores from the SAT and ACT).
The highest single-date composite score I’ve gotten on the ACT is a 33. However, my highest section scores superscored together make for a 34.
- Highest English: 36. Highest Math: 33. Highest Reading: 36. Highest Science: 31. (36+36+33+31)/4 = 34
The highest single date composite score I’ve gotten on the SAT is a 1510. Once again, my highest section scores superscored make for a 1530.
- Highest Evidence-Based Reading and Writing: 790. Highest Math: 740.
Again, I’m asking about this for colleges that allow you to submit scores from only of the tests (SAT or ACT).
They are about the same although SAT 1530 may be a little better on the current concordance table. For school admission, it may actually depend on the distribution of your section scores rather than just looking at the composite scores. In addition, many school do not superscore SAT while most do not superscore ACT. Your single sit ACT of 33 is actually matching your single sit SAT. If you are applying to STEM major, your math score may be more important. So it would depend on which school you are applying to. Otherwise, your SAT and ACT scores are pretty similar.
With those scores there is no downside in submitting both.
I would send the SAT. It’s cheaper (you can send all scores for one fee, including subject tests if you take any). For the ACT, you pay a separate fee for each test result you send. If you apply to 10+ schools, those fees can add up.
Great scores on both, congrats!
What are the subscores?
Sorry. It was there. They are both good.
Agree it is cheaper for SAT but I think some colleges do not require subject tests if you submit ACT.
