A 4.0 gpa with no ap classes or a 3.5 gpa with 2 ap classes.

And with the 4.0 gpa the class rank is in the top ten. But with the 3.5 gpa the class rank is in the top 30.

1) 2 AP’s is nothing
2) 3.5 GPA is pretty terrible, so the 4.0 would win by default
3) Top 30? At what school- one with a class of 100?

Well, let’s see.

4.0 GPA with no AP classes = excellent, but no course rigor so you probably coasted in high school = big nono for colleges.
3.5 GPA with 2 AP classes = meh, but if your school only offers 2 AP classes then I guess you’ll be somewhat excused. Unless the 2 classes were AP Psychology and AP Environmental Science. then = big nono for colleges.

3.5 GPA with 2 AP classes is pretty lulzy, btw.

Just curious, but what’s the purpose behind this question? I agree with the general consensus that neither option is exceptional.

It would also be nice to know some additional info regarding your school. For instance, does the 4.0 include honors classes, simply not AP’s? Or just mediocre courses? And how many students does your class consist of? What schools are you looking at? Etc., etc…

The rank is based on 900 students and the 4.0 includes just regular English Spanish 2 algebra 2 physics AP us history and athletics. I am looking at getting into USC. im only a junior currently and my classes are the same as what I listed but I’m taking ap English 3. But I’m debating whether to switch out of it or not to maintain my gpa and class rank. (Which used to be 6)

Are you saying that you currently have a 4.0 but think it will drop to a 3.5 if you take two APs?

Yes that’s exactly what I’m saying. Idk what to do.
