which language to take?

I feel sort of dumb worrying about college already but I started high school today and still haven't decided about which language to take.

I went to a German immersion elementary school, but I've never studied the language formally. I'd enter into German 3, do German 4, then AP, then run out of German levels by the time I'm a senior.

Or I could do French. I took a year of it in middle school. I'd enter into French 2, do French 3, 4, and then AP .

I want to fluently learn a foreign language, because I think it's important in a global society. I like both languages almost the same, and if my other classes weren't as rigorous, I'd definitely do both, but I have to choose one.

Which one do you think would be more useful or in demand? The subjects I've enjoyed the most are civics and biology. I've no idea which career field I even want to go though.

German-business.
French-diplomacy, though it was probably a little more useful 200 years ago.

German has more native speakers but French is a lot more widespread and useful.

I’d recommend French only because 1) its a more commonly used language internationally and 2) you would be able to take it throughout your 4 years of high school, as opposed to German which you would run out of courses for (unless your school offers online German courses at a higher level// OR you could do dual-enrollment at a local community college and take a college-level German course), since most top colleges prefer 4 years of a foreign language. If possible, try to take both of them. That would probably look even better on your college apps.
