Which major for someone who wants to be a veterinarian?

I’m a high school senior preparing to apply for colleges, and I’m debating on what I should put for my major? I want to be a veterinarian in the future. For the schools that have zoology and animal sciences available, I chose those to be my major; however, some schools do not offer these majors. Should I put marine biology or just general biology/biological sciences for schools like UCLA?

Thanks!

I’m pretty sure if you are pre-vet you can major in whatever you want, as long as you take the appropriate classes. I think it’s most common for pre-vet students to have a life or natural sciences major, so whatever looks interesting to you is a good pick.

If you are interested in zoology or animal behavior, UCLA’s ecology, behavior, and evolution major is probably the closest thing to what you want: https://www.eeb.ucla.edu/undergraduate.php.

Welcome to the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology! Are you curious about the world around you? Do you ever wonder why animals and other living organisms react to certain stimuli the way they do? Are you interested in behavior, biodiversity, ecology, conservation biology, evolution, marine biology, plant biology, paleobiology, physiology or tropical biology?..EBE majors study the relationships among living beings, their patterns of behavior and the forces that influence their evolution.
