I'm looking into engineering (civil/software/chem/electrical/biomed/mech/etc...) because I absolutely love problem solving.

Just out of curiosity, which of these fields will be the most
1) challenging, in terms of intellectual rigor
2) time-consuming
3) anything else that you should know....

Thanks!!

First search in the engineering forum and you will find your answer.

Most challenging would be Electrical and Computer Engineering. Most time consuming would be either Electrical and Computer Engineering because of the sophisticated problem sets or Mechanical because of hands-on projects. Personally, I think biomed and software are the easiest because they are least math-intensive, although it depends on the specialty within biomedical. Each of the engineering fields is rigorous and demanding relative to other majors.

Biomedical engineering is considered the one of hardest major if the the hardest at JHU, Duke, and WashU... I'm not qualified to say anything about any of those other majors. I am not experienced to say anything about those majors... Not trying to frighten or discourage you but don't take BME as a major lightly.
