I’m not exactly sure how difficult college math classes are, but I know their a lot more detailed than in high school, so I need some advice. I’m a new freshman art major, and plan to be an animator, or concept designer, and I think to some degree I’ll need to take math classes, and one math class is required for my GE, but I’m not exactly sure which class will be too difficult for me. My school offers college algebra, the ideas of math, pre-calc math, methods of Calculus, Critical Thinking through Applications of Math Logic, and intro statistics + hypothesis test. There’s also various intermediate math, but I think intermediate would be easier, maybe? I took regular calculus class in high school for my senior year, by the way. Which do you recommend? Which math class did you take in college? Or do you know any info about the math class or any advice? Thanks
I’d vote for Stats or logic or ideas (in that order) these are useful for everyone.
Most of the rest would be reviewing what you learned in high school.
Statistics is probably the most generally useful for those who do not need calculus or more advanced math for their majors. Logic is also helpful generally.
If you do want to take calculus, you may find http://www.math.buffalo.edu/rur_index.html to be useful to help you determine what courses you are ready for, if your college does not have its own placement tests or old math final exams you can try to check your knowledge.
