Which ME school would be good for me?

I’m currently attending the CC and doing pretty well. For transferring locally there’s only really the Univeristy of Washington; but I don’t want to go there. I wanted to know people’s opinions on what schools would fit me best (given the criteria) for a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

1. I want a school with a reputation for being extremely challenging (like MIT but without all the geniuses). I want to go to school not to party.

I don’t drink or use drugs so I don’t want to head off to a school with a reputation for that (WSU?)

Somewhere not too liberal (i.e. Berkeley from what I’ve heard)

Female/Male ratio MUST be greater than 45%… (Cal-Tech?? :frowning: )

As I’m from a very rural area in WA I’m not really looking for a bustling urban setting, but this isn’t too big of a criteria.

Somewhere with open land to be found within 1-2 hrs.

I don’t really care about a school’s research program.

Huge class size is also a negative.

Either coast will work. While my research up to this point has been brief, I should say from what I’ve read I think this epitomize’s Stanford but they seem to be a reach. Also don’t factor out expensive/competitive schools, just put a note by them.

To weight these criteria I’d say #1 is about 50% , #2 and #3 are about 20% each and #4 is the last 10%.

I mentioned #5 and #6 because I know that somewhere like downtown LA would NOT ever work for me. I’d be the sheltered washington kid who stares at everyone. #7 and #8 were after-thoughts. Thanks.
