“Which of the following schools admit based on major/college/doesn’t matter?”
Stop Trumping the facts. You go to one of the best high schools- start acting like it. Again, I wish you luck.

haha okay…
It’s an election year. Do you have experience in the political scene? When anyone talks of the most competitive colleges, you have to realize tons of kids will have much they offer. It’s not just stats and a top hs.
@lookingforward I don’t have any ECs in the political department, but if you look at my chance thread then you’ll see what kind of a person i am
OP, your gpa includes less than A’s, not quite the usual profile, your ECs are limited. And adcoms look at the transcript, will see the B’s and any C’s. These top schools cherry pick, can expect evidence of interest in the field you state you may major in, will look how you pursed that. That shows them how you think (or not,) how you choose to pursue interests (or not.)
Look back on my posts on this thread. You don’t simply present yourself and some major. They vet you. Poli Sci is one of the recent majors where more kids are applying without anything but some hs classes. And the opportunity to be involved is right under their noses. How do you think an adcom responds to that?
I’m referring to Columbia, Chicago, Northwestern, Midd, USC, and to some extent, Colgate, Hamilton, Vandy. This will be more than what “sort of person” you are. In fact, no offense intended, (I want you to think), but what impression does an adcom at a highly competitive get when one seems to pick a major out of the air?
And, you’re from one of the most competitive areas in the country- that doesn’t mean they forgive a B+gpa. It means tons of highly qualified kids compete against each other.
I think all majors at colleges with low admission rates are competitive. Even if one major is less competitive than another, it doesn’t mean standards are relaxed. Fewer students are likely competing for those spots, but those students will have stellar scores, GPAs, and a cohesive app.
I think a sudden interest in poli sci with nothing in your history to indicate how that interest evolved will be weaker than an app that shows involvement over time. My son is a comp sci major at one of our state universities. I can trace back his interest to grade school. It’s evident in the hobbies he pursued over the years, in the clubs he joined, the courses he took, and the workshops he sought out. My duaghter is the same way. She’s a senior in high school who’s interested in becoming a physical therapist or nutritionist. Her interests have evolved over the years too, and looking back now I can see how different activities and studies have shaped her current interests.
You want your app to tell a story. That doesn’t mean you have to have had an interest in business since grade school, but I bet there’s an interesting path that led you to where you are now. Tell that and let the chips fall where they may. The danger in trying to be something you’re not to try to get accepted to a particular set of schools is that you come off as inauthentic and are accepted to none.
