Which of these 2 CC's is a better "diving board" into Berkeley Transfer Admissions??

I am in the process of deciding which California CC I plan on attending in order to earn enough creditds with good enough grades to successfully transfer into UC-Berkeley as a junior level transfer?

I have narrowed it down to:

1.) City College of San Francisco (San Francisco, CA)

2.) Berkeley City College (Berkeley, CA); Previously Vista Community College

Both schools seem to be practical for my plan, since they are all quite close to the general area so I will be able to become familiar prior to transfering. As far as what I am mainly concerned with, the admissions numbers seem to be similar throughout all 3. As far as the "most", CCSF seems to send anywhere from 75 to 100+ transfers to Berkeley in a given year but in ratio to their student body (13,000-ish), the other college sends similar percentages to Berkeley compared to their smaller student body

Does anybody have an opinion as to which of the 2 would be ideal for my situation. CCSF is my #1 as of now, but for a non-Californian, I don't really have much to base this on as of now. I guess since all 3 seem to offer similar advantages, I was drawn to the 2 years in the city of San Francisco because I have spent my entire life in rural New Hampshire up to this point ( I hear it's a wonderful city :) )

I am looking for the school that would prepare me best for successful admission to Berkeley (even though I am quite aware that 90% of everything relies on my hardwork and dedication to my own academics, regardless to which school I chose :) )

I was just hoping one would be recommended over the other...

...help make a choice, finally.

Your figure is wrong; it's 100% of your own hard work and academic dedication. Realistically, students who transfer into Berkeley would have been able to do it from any other community college. Of course, we can't help but recommend our particular CC but in the end it makes almost no difference whatsoever.

Just go to wherever is most convienent. Seriously.

Cheers.

It doesn't matter. You should look at the schools to see which one offers more of the courses you will need in order to fulfill your requirements. Berkeley looks at classes, not schools.

I went to City College of San Francisco, took the right classes, and got accepted. But other students have taken the "right classes" from all over. What you need to do is look at www.assist.org and look at the transfer agreements for the courses at both schools. Maybe one of them offers a course you need that the other doesn't. You should choose on this fact and not the name.

^ Excellent advice. Or if one has a pre-req but is far from you, you can take all your Gen Ed at one cc and just commute for that one pre-req.

Thanks so much guys. I honestly can't not imagine how I would answer these questions without the help of this website.
