HawkeyeDude - I am a proud graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in accounting (although I graduated in the late 80’s). Upon graduation I had multiple job offers in multiple cities (including Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, Houston, and Omaha). I would definitely rank U of I higher than ISU or UNI. I believe Notre Dame is one of the top ranked accounting programs in the country - but I personally don’t think you’ll see significant differences in long term employment opportunities if you attend Notre Dame vs U of I. You really need to look at the cost of attendance at Notre Dame (about $53k) vs in-state tuition at Iowa (about $20k) and decide if it makes sense. You will have plenty of job opportunites with the Big 4 (it was 8 when I graduated) if you do well at U of I.

My son is also contemplating whether to get an accounting degree or an engineering degree. U of I is on his list but at $35k OOS tuition there would have to be one heck of a a merit package for him to consider it (we are full pay but he is likely a NMSF). He is leaning heavily towards Uni of Minnesota which has a business school that is probably ranked a little bit ahead of Iowa.

Good luck with your search and don’t be afraid to go to a great school that is in your own backyard (I grew up within 10 miles of Iowa City and it is a great town).
