Which of these Uni's are best for IB (undergrad program)

Please rank them.

Im applying to:

1) LSE for management
2) Queens Uni in Canada for BCom
3) McGill for BCom
4) Kings College london for business management
5) Warwick for Law/Business and International Management (2 courses)
6) UofT for Commerce (Rotman)

thanks

Very hard to rank these schools in one ranking.
For Wall Street, they are about the same, with LSE having a slight advantage in terms of reputation; you should explore other options (i.e. going to an American school) if you want to work on Wall Street.
For the City, LSE>Warwick>Kings>the Canadian schools.
For Hong Kong, LSE>>the rest.
Not sure about Canada.

any other thoughts?

Where are you planning on working? If you are a US citizen you should be looking at some US colleges that are on par with LSE academically, if you arent, then chances of getting a Wall St job are almost nil and you should be figuring a uni based on your projected country of residence, but LSE will still top all of the others on your list.

I thought Warwick is as good as LSE in the UK, Europe and Asia. LSE has the advantage over Warwick in the US. I have no idea for the rest o the mentioned schools.

LSE from someone currently working in the city.

Where do you want to work? LSE has great intl cred, so does McGill but bcom is a **** major. You coukd attend McGill then change majors once you get in. Queens is good too, though its rep is limited outside Canada. Great school, not well known.

I’d pick LSE hands down, maybe McGill second. King’s College is good too.

No; King’s isn’t good for IB placement. In the UK it’s either LSE or Warwick.

In the US, few people have heard of Warwick. In Asia, few people have heard of Warwick. LSE dominates Warwick in the US and in Asia. McGill won’t get you anywhere in IB outside of Canada.

You don’t need many people to have heard of your school to make it a target school for IBanking. I have heard of Columbia way, way before I have heard that a college named, Dartmouth existed. I have heard of Michigan way before I’ve heard of Wharton.

Top employers have heard of Warwick and all the top banks visit their campus regularly, including the top US banks and a number of management consulting firms. According to an article I read, they have the most representative in FO IB amongst the UK unis. Bottom line is: both LSE and Warwick are top schools for IB placement. You’d be pulling hair when you try to differentiate between the two. The other top UK unis for IB placement are: Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial and UCL. Together, they are the equivalent of Harvard-Wharton-Princeton-Dartmouth-Yale in the US.

The point we were trying to make was as far as international cred, LSE > Warwick, so all else being equal (how much you actually like the school) I’d go LSE personally.

^ The world is tooooooo large to make any conclusive claim that an LSE degree is superior to any of those given schools. For example, I doubt if LSE is seen more prestigious than U of Toronto or McGill in Canada. So, be specific. We need to establish which country.

Ok, I’m talking about NY and the US specifically when I say internationally, I don’t know anything about Canada.

Why do you want to do investment banking? <<< If you can’t answer this question and many others like it, a 4.0/4.0 from Harvard won’t get you in

“You don’t need many people to have heard of your school to make it a target school for IBanking. I have heard of Columbia way, way before I have heard that a college named, Dartmouth existed. I have heard of Michigan way before I’ve heard of Wharton.”

In Asia is unlike the US, over there, MIT and UChicago would get you a position that Dartmouth and Columbia wouldn’t, despite the fact that Dartmouth and Columbia are at least as strong as MIT and stronger than UChicago in the US. Likewise, LSE would get you a position that Warwick wouldn’t, despite them being peers in the UK.

How come no mention of LBS? Slipped everyone’s mind in discussing UK schools or is it not much of a banker school.

^London Business School is only a graduate school.

Right, thanks

i plan to work internationally or maybe in Canada if i go to uni there, mainly south east asia and the middle east.

thanks, and im also interested in consulting or any job in finance since it will be extremely difficult to get a job in IB
