I live in India,
I have secured admission in 2 US University and in 1 Indian University for studying Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science

Goal - To work in game industry

Which one should I go for

SUNY Plattsburgh
Financial aid - $4500/year
Cost of 1 year after subtracting financial aid- $24080

Michigan Technological University
Financial aid - $6000/year
Cost of 1 year after subtracting financial aid- $25578

An average Indian University
Cost of 1 year (including Tution,housing,food,everything)- $4503

How easy is it for your family to come up with USD 25,000 to USD 26,000 each year for the next four years? Does this figure include all of your expenses (tuition, fees, food, housing, transportation between the campus and your home, winter clothing, books, materials, anything else you can think of)? Right now that university in India looks really good to me.

Have you checked with the career centers at SUNY-P and MTU to find out about placement in internships and jobs in the game industry? How many of their international graduates are being hired by companies that are able to get them H-1B visas so that they are based in the US? Are any of their international graduates hired by companies that base them in their home countries so the visas aren’t necessary?

It is not easy for my family to come up with USD 25-26k each year. First two years is okay but after that it gets tough. But it is not impossible. Yes this figure includes every thing you can think of even partying. One more thin, studying bachelor’s in US puts my chances of studying Masters’s at risk because my parents are not sure whether they would be able to support me up to 6 yrs of education in US.

No I have not checked directly with their career centers but I have checked from other sources to have an approximate Idea about them. SUNY-P in not anywhere in game industry but MTU is, MTU has their own production house (this attracts me the most). And internship opportunities are for both are same. Job opportunity for SUNY Pl graduates is not that much but every MTU grad is hired upon graduation. Don’t know about SUNY Pl , but graduates from MTU are find it easy to get hired by top notch companies in their home countries. (I think in typing this reply, I have eliminated one option, which makes taking decision one step easier . Thanks for asking :-)

It looks like it may make more sense for you to do your BS in India, and then pursue your MS in the US (or elsewhere). Your parents will be able to help you pay for the MS, and if you have good grades from your first degree, you might have a lot of good graduate programs to choose from.

Thank you very much for helping me out.

Thank you very much for what you sent in PM. It was very helpful. Please note that I will go to college from my home. So no expenses for housing. I have already considered those things. And after considering everything , I am now confused. So, it would be more helpful if you could give me a straight choice among the three which I stated in my query.

I don’t know much about India, but I know in China it is very common to go to college at home, then do grad-school in the US. My father employs some 10 PhD’s(from Cornell, MIT, UC Davis, U Wisconsin, and others) Most of them did undergrad in China.

Thank you dear for the information.
